INTRODUCTION

The goal of this workshop is to update novices on the basics of ultrasound skills in a concise and efficient manner. The structure of the workshop should make it easy to apply, simple to follow, and practical to use. The enumeration of scanning steps and required images promotes the establishment of standards and improves examination quality. Knowledge of anatomy is essential, as is the development of skilled ultrasound techniques. It is our hope that this workshop will contribute to the achievement of excellence in the daily practice of ultrasound scanning. Please note that this course is a refresher programme only to improve the basic skills of ultrasound scanning. The course does not provide any qualifications or certifications other than an attendance certificate for CPD purposes, where applicable.

Day 1: FEMALE PELVIC AND BASIC OBSTETRIC ULTRASOUND

• Female pelvis
• Practical session pelvis
• 1st Trimester Pregnancy and Pathology
• Practical session 1 (1st Trimester - CRL)
• 2nd Trimester Pregnancy (Fetal lie, BPD, HC, AC and FL)
• Practical session 2 (BPD, HC, AC, FL)
• 2nd Trimester (Fetal Anatomy)
• 3rd Trimester (Placenta, AFI and internal os)
• Practical session 3 (Fetal anatomy and Placenta location, AFI)

DAY 2: BASIC ABDOMEN ULTRASOUND

• Equipment, How to optimize your image, terminology, orientation
• Liver, gallbladder, biliary system
• Practical Session 1
• Pancreas, spleen, IVC, Aorta
• Practical Session 2
• Urinary system, Prostate and FAST
• Practical session 3

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

The workshop is designed for healthcare professionals who would be expected to apply this knowledge and skills in their daily clinical practice.

All cancellations must be communicated to HAI office in writing for the particular booking to be automatically rescheduled for the next workshop/ training/ course or preferably send a substitute who holds an authorisation letter from the previously registered client.
